FAKING IT (Read time 0:17)
We have finally arrived at a time when the truth is sexier than the hype. Especially these digital days when everything is so transparent—when we can instantly discover the dark side about you, your product and your art. Back in the day, when hype was king, it took a costly P.R. firm and a million-dollar advertising agency to hide that darkness, and convince us that your product was exactly what we needed. And convince us you did! Now we can discover the truth on our own. And discover it we will!
The pitfall: Attempting to use “pseudo” humility as a marketing ploy to hype your work. We’ll see through that too!
I think most people are still taken in by the hype only. Most people don't want to hear the truth because they might actually have to do something. The time for real truth to arrive hasn't happened yet in my books. People are too easily taken in by fakery and nonsense. So even the honest business people are willing to bend the truth and marketing around to what they understand, the all mighty dollar. Don't kid yourself Mike, most people don't have guts. Most people don't want to hear what I'm saying here either.

Yeah, it all started in the days of "the talkies." It reared its' ugly head again through American Bandstand & Milli Vanilli. Guess ya just can't do a silent voiceover... especially in public. 'bout time. Hehehe...

I look forward to each of your posts and this one came at the perfect time when we are just about to sit down with our P.R. rep and discuss a new campaign. Thanks!

i love how the new techno-biz is demolishing the old ways of greed and deception in the music industry.I'm sure the new gatekeepers will figure out a way to take advantage but the playing field has been leveled and we all have an equal opportunity to succeed in this industry.

| Truth Vs. False ? |
What is Truth ? Truth is a product of human perception. There are no facts only interpretations. Every word is a prejudice. What are man's truths ultimately ? Merely his irrefutable errors. So what exactly are you talking about Michael. For if life is a stage and all of us are merely actors who have our exits and entrances. Then what thus does it mean to be faking it ? What is real ? Surely you are not real. So why fake it friend ?

I really needed to hear this today. And you've said it before Michael: "truth in advertising is finally a reality!" Thanks for the reminder.

Itís about time that the Truth became practical! This may be the greatest accomplishment of digital media, to strip us all of hiding behind the hype. It keeps all of us honest! Thanks, Michael.
