WHY IT’S NOT WORKING (Read time 0:31)

If there’s still time, why not just make it happen?

Ooooh, short read, BIG slap of reality. They pretty much ALL apply, but I think the missing truth for me is cowardice. If I give it up, I admit defeat for all the world to see, when faking it for all these years has fooled so many people; or has it??? Oh, G-d, I hate to take responsibility and stand on my own two feet. Thank you for this great message, Michael.

Too Late
Times up. It's too late to make it happen now. Wish I had this list a year ago.

Does the name of Bildad the Shuhite ring a bell? I appreciate your confidence but I think you might be overdoing it. Did you see how hard Vic Chesnutt worked? Or Gregory Page? ..and countless others. There's a fine line between encouragement and arrogance. Arrogant people tend to generalize from their limited, narrow life experiences and try to impose their small worldview on others.

Darkness
I once worked for a music company that was a rip off from the start. Luring musicians and songwriters into a fake promotion/marketing plan. I worked there for 3 months before I saw the darkness of what they were up to. The project definitely had 'dark Roots" and finally failed before the first year.

The Project has dark roots ?
Yep, I'm guilty of some of these things like change and having enough confidence to fly on my own. I still have confidence and some doubt in my abilities in the music business. If I don't do it now, i never will. Thank you Michael. Mark in Canada

"if this list was here long ago, I'd never had made these excuses!!" LOL (add it to the list?) very enlightening list. Thanks. I'll make it happen, now. Marc

Mistrust is a huge distraction... Work with people you can trust ! If you can find them!

A person can do many things in life and make many mistakes; but, the greatest mistake he'll never make is doing nothing.....

Why It's Not Working.
You didn't include two that happened to me: My producer breached my director/writer contract and took my film away, cut it to ribbons and then sold it in a cheap buyout. Never saw that one coming, although the film is still in distribution, for which I'm grateful. And, on the eve of several film financing meetings, my writing partner on another script decided to bloody well move, pretty much killing that film's life in one dumbass move. But I learned my lesson and I NOW have a most amazing songwriting partner who truly brings it to the table. We're singing our songs at Kulak's on 7/26 and it's a proud evening indeed. Please join us? 8pm show! All of which goes to say, don't quit--just change partners, Pardner!

But how do you know?
A few nights ago, I was watching a movie and it became very clear as the leading man said: "it's not difficult to do the right the thing once you know what it is. What is difficult is know what it is." And I confess that I've said all of the excuses in this list above... But I think it's mainly uncertainty that takes control of my mind. So much of art, music, creation in general is subjective, and it's hard to know if you are heading in the right direction at all. Just have to keep plowing, make intelligent choices and see how it all turns out, I guess;) And it's nice to know that it's never really too late.

I love this one: "In a blink, you KNEW it wouldn’t work from the start but you ignored the signs." So true, so true, so true!

My life
This list is the story of my life. When is the 'counter list" coming?

I blew it
The truth is embarassing. Add this to your list: I lost interest, I was distracted by other things, I intentionally procrastinated till it was too late. I quit too soon. Thanks MD.
