R U READY? (Read time 0:47)
I don't believe in luck. However, I do know that when preparedness meets opportunity, extraordinary things can happen. So the question is, are you prepared? Are you ready for that big break? Are you ready to answer the knock on the door? Are you prepared to “jump” at the chance of a lifetime? Are you prepared right now? Before the end of this day? At a moment’s notice?
Have you done the work, paid your dues and put in your 10k hours? Are you now an “expert” in your field? Are you operating at peak performance? Do you have an extraordinary product, outrageous service or breathtaking art ready for your fans & customers (the world) to consume? Have you built your following, grown your tribe, and established a large enough respected reputation? One that will enthusiastically follow you to the next level, and sustain you when you arrive? Could you drop everything in your life “at a moment’s notice” to pursue an opportunity if it came knocking TODAY? Are you conscious enough, open-minded enough, intelligent enough, seasoned enough, experienced enough, and wise enough to recognize a real opportunity when you see one?
If you said “no” to any one of these questions, then it would be smart to get prepared.
If you said “yes,” then it would be smart to remain vigilant, tweek your antennae, and be on the lookout for opportunities. It would also be smart to “travel light,” and make yourself available to perform, produce, travel or respond, with confidence and intelligence when opportunity comes unexpectedly banging...at a moment’s notice.

R U Ready - Anthem for your blog post...
Well, While I was perusing my gmail I saw the title of one of my songs, and thought, uh, oh, I hope I didn't delete that one! Well it brought be here, and no, it wasn't about my song, but I figured that I would share this with everyone anyway - it's always nice to have an anthem... right? Anyway, here's the URL to the song by the same name as your article: http://tallship.dmusic.com/music/stream/hifi/folder/6353/.7dc29f96/stream.m3u Dmusic is an interesing place, claiming to be basically the oldest music site on the net, while Music Connection Magazine holds a quite similar place in our hearts :) I hope that helps! .

Perhaps I'm different but readiness is when I'm ready. For example, yesterday I had the music ready for whatever the lyrics would be, then I decided at 4pm to write it 911 theme. At 6pm I recorded the vocal. About 8pm I did the lead guitar. At 9pm I made the video. At about 10 pm it was on youtube. Was I ready, not really because I broke the rules, recording, mastering same day. But on another scale, I realized I must have been ready to be creative because the song was done at 10pm. Keeping that in mind I must have been prepared internally to meet a deadline, however I don't think I knew initially what I ready for. So perhaps being ready is sometimes an internal secret that arises when you realize you are ready.

just do it!
There is no perfect time to do anything in business; and it's not dependent on what the economy is doing. Yeah, I'm not totally ready but I keep on putting my writing service out there for musicians despite what the nay sayers say. Keep striving, and stay focused. Don't do 10 million different things. Don't believe people who say you have to have your finger in different pies to make extra cash on the side. If you need to have a job still, work to pay the bills and stick to one type of business, whether it's as a musician -booking agent, artist or actor. Got it? Mark

Are You Prepared?
Thank you so very much Michael. Seems like I haven't heard from you in a while, but you're always on time, really.... I was laying here this morning feeling a bit disconnected from my source. I have worked for years now on a project that like most with extraordinary opportunity has had an equal measure of sacrifice. TODAY, major networks and one of the largest entertainment agencies in the world, CAA, are coming together to negotiate deal points on my franchise. But, I have been laying in bed this morning, closing my eyes a little tighter, trying to go over my checks and balances list with my guardian... I wasn't hearing him... then your blog popped up, this is the list I've been squeezing my eyes shut to see!

Great post! I couldn't agree more! You have to truly be what it is you seek to do. Thinking that it will all "just come together" at right timeis a recipe for failure. The "time" is NOW and the "place" is WHERE EVER YOU ARE! As a qualification- many people trust in God to give them blessings but DON'T TRUST THEMSELVES TO BE ABLE TO RECEIVE THEM! Being prepared and having a clear vision of what your doing will give you the skill and confidence to win!!! Don't defeat yourself with procrastination, lack of focus, lack of effort, etc. Do what you HAVE to do and the rest up to God!

Great article, Michael! You made so many great points! Thank you SO much for that! Well, I've been working on my art for quite some time now and I believe that one might say that perhaps I'm "more than" ready, having written more than 200 songs. However, the "following", "tribe", and "large respected reputation" part I'm not so sure about. And this is something I've been working on for the past year or so because I recognized that there was "something wrong with this picture" & I want to fix it. But, other than that, I feel now that I just need to jump in & go for it, "ready or not". I think sometimes we just have to "decide" we're ready, too. And I loved what Robert said above, also! Thanks for sharing that!

Always ready!
When I was new at my game, I was arrogantly bloated with false self-confidence. I wondered why I was getting nowhere. In time, I realized that “experts” could spot the phony in me. A great coach once “called me” on my phoniness. And I listened. I then made a commitment to transform from amateur to professional. I did prepare, and put in more hours, and my attitude changed. Since “putting on” a professional attitude, success is following me around. Thank you, Michael.

Almost ready
I read this and realized, I haven’t “finished” writing a couple of my songs, so I’m going to do that right away so I am prepared. I’m also going to order my business cards, so I’m ready to hand them out. (I’m just starting) But most importantly, I have to “put on” the confidence and the identity of who I am, so anyone who meets me would “get” who I am, and know that I am prepared! And by planning my “preparedness,” I have discovered a great result: a new expectation that it WILL happen!
