35 DAYS (Read time 0:47)
There’s only thirty-five days left in 2012. It’s time to lock yourself in the studio, bolt the office door, barricade your team inside the creative space and don't come out until it’s finished! Only allow food to come through the door and handwritten notes to come under it. Unplug the TV and block out the Net. Tell your friends and family to leave you alone—until you give them the green light.
When Procrastination suggests a “petty” to do list, flush it down the toilet!
A profound choice is now staring you right in the face: spend the last 35 days of this year “resisting,” OR, give it 200% and get your project/life/biz right where you want it by 12/31. You're an artist, an entrepreneur, this is the life you’ve chosen—honor your mission. Just put on your gloves, get in the ring, and come out swing’n!
“I could not finish the book I started. The closer I got to the end, the stronger the resistance...the more different ways I’d find to screw it up.” —Best selling author, Steven Pressfield, “The War Of Art.”

Breathe !
Well it's Friday. Your blog was sent Monday and I just had time to breathe easy since nine tonight and read my favorite Michael. Honestly I've divorced time. I mean these days I'm rushed off my butt . . I hate clocks and calenders. I love the freedom to work and yes, by golly, go out for a walk and breathe in some air. Thank you for all your thoughts. You are an example of how the Net can be positive. I'm tired out and grumpy and you are encouraging me tonight. All I can say is that when we want and need to work,we have to say no to all distractions....you are so right about that. Some people don't get it ! I am going to put a kind but firm note on my door.Is that a mean thing to do ?No !

Very sincere words of wisdom
Hey Michael: very good and sincere words of wisdom. In this world of so much distractions and little satisfaction, it's good to have people like you throw in words of wisdom that can wake up and motivate someone before the years is gone. Carry on. And thanks for taking the time to express your own ideas. Sincerely Mishu Panda

Great post! As an artist and entrepreneur I go through those procrastination lapses, it's good to know we stand as a unit when it comes to growth.

Words Of Wisdom
It's always a great feeling to know that there's someone like your-self Dolan, who is willing to speak your heart out to a community with unconditional enthusiasm to motivate those who needed those simple words of wisdom you so wisely dispensed for the number of days remaining for 2012...thanks.

Inspiration is such a fleeting emotion and so hard to sustain alone. I really appreciate your regular shots of it, and hope to turn it into product soon.

35 days
Just finished nanowrimo: 50,000 words in 30 days...only I finished in 23 days. The challenge to finish the year out with a creative project (35 days) is enticing and in keeping with the momentum I already have from nanowrimo. The music muse was re-awakened as I had hoped from nano, the 'permission' to work on it for 35 days was given...thanks! peace

Sometimes it`s almost as if there is a source of energy somewhere out there that only has one purpose - to distract me from my task and my project - it`s as if time bandits constantly prowl around and approach every time I`m planning to spend some time in the studio - as a rule they appeal to my sense of not wanting to be rude - and once again I close the door to my studio in order to help someone else with their project which always seem to be more urgent than mine. Thank you for reminding me that I need to re-read some of your earlier posts Michael.

Hi Michael, I agree with you that we must remain focused; while consistently taking each step forward on the path that leads to reaching our goals. At the same time, no person in this world is self made. And reaching our goals only happens with the support, assistance, and cooperation of others. Each of us has our strengths, and areas where we need the talents of others to help us reach success. I must be getting close because I keep working at it and I keep asking for what I need and want in the service of others. ;-)

Distraction Season!
Just in time! Distraction and Procrastination have teamed up to lure me into Christmas shopping. I have a valid excuse to come out from my creative Pursuits. Gotta ďscheduleĒ my creative time, no matter what. Thanks again, J Michael!

Help! Iím drowning in Christmas decorating, parties, shopping!!! Iím trying to get it all done now so I can create creative time later. Am I deluding myself? Thank you for pointing to the Distractions so I can be more aware.....
