I LOVE this! Thank you for the permissions! The only one I'll quibble about (being not working hard to please) is the don't "Go with the Flow" one. I believe that things move along well when we feel free to be ourselves, even if that isn't popular or necessarily pleasing to others. What I'll agree with is not "coasting" or "drifting" if that's what you meant. Moving along a nicely flowing stream requires us to swim a bit, adjust a bit (sometimes a lot), sit up straight and participate! Then we move in time to our own music and make true music in the world! And that is the flow that everyone's always reaching for! Thanks for listening & for your wonderful subjects to stimulate good exchange!

I'm never going to be appropriate again!

Beat the poor little thing..
Thanks Michael. For sure..."they hate what they do not understand..." Some times pushing through, gently, to a new place is awkward, but necessary. "What the heck did I ever do to them anyways??" Have an awesome day Michael:-) and everybody.

R U APPROPRIATE?
I have very little regard for people who faced with the decision of farting or holding it in, somehow prefer the latter! I, on the other hand, prefer to let that baby rip! If you do it with pride and determination, those closest to you may even think that you're a budding ventriloquist, or something The point is that anyone doing ANYTHING in their own life, expressly to 'please' someone like a parent, spouse or child is NOT being honest with themselves! The cliche 'courage of your conviction' is a case in point! COURAGE?That's what it takes to preserve ones own personal dignity! Without dignity you are no one, have nothing and are going and will continue to go nowhere! Next time you're faced with a fart BLAST IT!

Thanks again Michael. I'm going to bottle this and sell it. You'll get the majority of the cut of course !

Aaron Wolfson... Today's Dolan was tongue in cheek. Get with the program. Don't fall off your high horse. PLEASE. If you do, you can swear and be primly inappropriate.

Achieving the results you want in life
You don't have to be inappropriate, rude, hurtful, or harmful. But you do have decide that you are absolutely going to achieve your goals in life. And, that means you are going to be creative and resourceful, and invent new ways to reach you goals no matter what it takes; and regardless of how much effort it requires.

Flipping in-appropriate
I am gleeful just thinking how fun it is to be totally inappropriate and flipping the birdie(not just when driving)in the course of our day and creative work. Trip things up a bit and ruffle up the hair... live dangerously. Thanks Michael. You always find a way to trip things up - we like!!

Opposite Day...Life
Thanks for the post today. Perfect for a Monday morning when my habit is to follow the "norm". Actually, flippin' the bird and following my own path is working much better. I'm more relaxed and having fun! Time to not just make it Opposite Day but Opposite Life!

I love this! Scott Mathews introduced us to your blog a year ago and some days it just resonates more than others. Today's was brilliant! Thank you, Mr. Dolan.

Thanks for making me laugh! So many people who are gifted struggle to fit in. And their gift is they don't.

I've made a carrer of going against the grain. I don't know any other way.

George
This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George decides to do everything the opposite of what he has always done. He immediately became highly successful in business and with women. It certainly made me think.

Flipping the bird
I "Flip The Bird" to the status quo every day! I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but it sure feels good!

Perfect timing!
I'm wearing shorts in the winter, talking loud in the library and, yes, running with scissors! This is my kind of inspiration and at the perfect time in my life...when I was agonizing over a decision.

Only 1 day
I'm doing it! But I know if I do the above for ONE day, I have to follow up Inappropriately for the days afterwards. Are you trying to trick me, JM Dolan?
