NO SH%T! (Read time 0:57)
I’ve been fortunate to see Billy Joel perform many times in many different arenas and venues over the years. Billy has always been a profound influence on me and my own fledgling piano playing, and his lyrics have always resonated with whatever was going on in my life at the time. That’s what great songs, books, blogs, poetry and scripts do; they cut in deep, and go right to the core—and remind us of who we are, and what we’re committed to.

I have always kinda liked Tavis Smiley's "and as always, keep the faith" but this got me thinking about the automatic signatures you can put on your emails. I had one I used for years, which I will use hear, but first my favorite quote from Ann Ree Colton "when learning has ceased, death has come." Anyway, Michael, thank you for another thought provoking blog. Nial Connolly. F.E.A.R. False expectations appearing real.

| Something extra |
The fact that you've given something for the audience to think about when the last chord is played or the final page is turned makes all the difference in the world. It even can be something different each time --- but you have made that personal connection that won't ever be forgotten. Case in point: I remember the Billy Joel story exactly the way J.Michael describes it here. But like him (and everyone in the arena), I felt like Billy was speaking directly to me.

Love this one, J. Michael. My dad used to always say, "When it gets too tough for the rest of 'em, it makes it just right for us." An old snowmobile buddy of mine, 82 years old, always says, "Keep your chin in the wind." This is a great Blog, man, thank you for it. I'd guess we'll all be thinking of our parting statement in the days to come... I know I will be.

What is your "parting shot" Michael ? Would you like to share if you had one? Some of us would like to know... Looking on your blog titles, one could easily use quite a few as "parting shots". I'm thinking of mine today and hope to make it good.

One of the guys at the gym regularly departs with the challenge "make it a good one!" It's surprising how often I make that my assignment and am aware of applying it throughout the day. So while working on my own more personalized message, I close with that one. Thanks Michael for the reminder that our message speaks for us all day every day. Make it a good one!

| Being Human |
How great is it that such a big talent as Billy would tell us not only about not taking crap from anyone, but to be brave and Strong! Suggesting that he too has had to be brave and strong in his life, that this is part of the human experience for all of us.

I love it. That each of us has the opportunity to inspire one another, and we all need that inspiration! I am thinking over that tag phrase of what I’d like to give to my fellow human beings. I hate stupid license plates, so I’m going to make it good! Thank you, JMD, for your own inspirations.
