Better Safe Than Sorry (0:13)
Really? "Safe" sounds like you did nothing. Just sat on the sidelines and watched opportunity go by—in a warm blanket, protecting your bank account or your reputation from any kind of failure or loss. "Sorry" sounds like you took a chance, gave it a shot, risk it all, reached for the gold ring and went "all-in." That said, don’t you think it’s better to be sorry than safe?

You gain the widest perspective by reaching the top. If you remain on the mountain side, you see less.

to risk or not to risk
It all depends on "where your mind is at, mate"...my Aussie friend likes to say. 12 or so years ago, I decided that I don't want to be a starving artist and parlayed my creativeness into something commercial yet enabled me to be creative.Risk was my first name, work my middle name and luck my last name. They are all interchangeable. Fricking stressful a lot of times but so amazingly fruitful from the get go. Risk does not need to have the negative connotation that it implies. It can be a good thing...use your head, work like hell cos that's where your luck lies. No risk, no gain is a no brainer. What next Michael ?

I'd rather LIVE life, experience hope, loss, failure, completion, beauty, light.. I'd rather try..

I agree better sorry than safe, but when you find that the venture you entered wasn't going to work, you also need to fail quick. I learned that lesson the hard way last year. I only need to learn it once though:)

Balance....Safety / Regret.
We cannot assume. We can do our best to look at the possibilities-the odds. We can be daring, adventureous and most of all be comfortable with each experience that we have had. That's life ! That's learning ! Never ending ! Happy New Year !

Jimmy Page risked everything to produce Led Zeppelin 1. Need I say more?... I have only one motivational poster in the house. It reads "RISK- Do not follow the common path. Go where there is no path and leave a trail."

Risk...
The funny thing is that I've spent so many years as a "starving artist" that I think perhaps what others consider to be "risk" is my lifestyle. I feel that the risk is *not doing everything possible to achieve your goals*. When we take absolute ownership of your life then we find that even getting a J.O.B. can be a part of a greater scheme and not just the endgame for paying the rent. The risk as a business owner/entrepreneur is expecting someone or something else to provide opportunities for you without some sort of reciprocal effort on your part. The *risk* is sleeping in, watching TV, blowing off opportunties, waiting for the phone to ring or expecting God to fix everything or provide for us. Gotta go get it!!!

Risky Business
Timely Michael! A friend and I were recently discussing risk in relation to our teen and young twenty sons. The risks they sometimes take are physical feats where survival is the payoff. My friend commented that his definition of a risk worth taking is a risk that has a huge upside potential. Viewed that way, it gets my juices flowing to create those kinds of opportunities so that the thrill is thriving, not surviving. Then it doesn't even feel like a rsik at all. Heppy New Year J. Michael and all!

I just posted my 2014 Year in Preview including a sketch - as I am learning to draw. My father always said, "Do Something! Most People Don't!" I believe this. :D

Inner Sorry
Interesting self-inquiry. If I had just lost everything I wagered, well, I would be sorry, but I would look at revising my idea or approach to it, if I really believed in it. But if I had never risked it, never gone all the way with my idea, I would be the kind of sorry that eats you from the inside out, wearing you down into bitterness and regret and that, is the most destructive “sorry” I can think of.

Sorry
I would only be sorry if it didn’t work, and really take a look at what part worked and what part didn’t. Did I Market it to the wrong audience? Was my timing off? Or is there something so wrong with the “product” that I have to reinvent it somehow? Last nite on a New Years’ Eve TV program, the MC said that the first five Songs of the Supremes were flops...now what if they had risked it all and dubbed themselves “failures?” What if they had given up? Boy, would THEY have been SORRY!!! And I for one would have missed their great music, which was the score for that time in my life.
