HIGHWAY 1 (0:23)
Objectives are not linear. Your impossible dream, your ultimate destination is not a straight shot to the land of milk and honey. It's mostly a long and winding road, like HWY 1 heading north to Big Sur. A 60-mile stretch of switchback turns, dangerous cliffs, frequent landslides, unpredictable dead ends, blinding fog and multiple distractions along the way. It’s also the most beautiful drive on earth!

Highway 1 is a GREAT metaphor for staying the course while navigating obstacles. It's not an easy drive. However once you achieve your goal and arrive at your destination it's pure bliss!

Path of Diamonds
Light beams shine on a diamond displaying different angles at different moments to reflect magnificent beauty. Sojourners path which is never fully defined til light beams further to destination.

Dream BIG
I've been successful in show business and made a lot of money as a manager. However, it seems that whenever I achieved my goals, or arrived at my "dream" destination, I always thought "This isn't it. I'm not there yet!" That's why I think Michael always refers to "your impossible dream." Because I think we need to dream bigger. Like go for the impossible!

Is there really a destination in life?
If you are not enjoying the journey, will you ever be content? Try to live in the moment. You can't relive the past and you can't live in the future. Make the most out of where your are right now and value every day. Is there really a destination in life? If so will you know when you have finally arrived?

When you're very young you think the world is your 'pearl' oyster. As you travel through your journey you realize not all oysters have the pearl. But persistence to find and open many oysters will get you the pearls. Great words of wisdom Mike!

highway # 1
When I was a young whippersnapper folksinger I had a gig at the Ashgrove in LA. Having a free day at my disposal I took a drive along the Pacific that remains as one of the "best day's of my musical life journey" I went back to smog city with a much clearer head and finished my month of LA Times with some new perspectives on my career. Much like the clarity of today's weblog. Thank you Michael.

The journey
When I last drove on Hwy 1 to San Francisco, my car broke down in Big Sur and I fretted while I went thru the process of getting it fixed. I landed my job in Frisco, and stayed there only 18 mo before I discovered that I was more the Big Sur type. I returned there to open a gallery and pursue my own painting. That was 13 years ago. EVERY challenge on my journey has been important.

What a great reminder! On our personal Journey, if it's foggy or stormy, we tend to think something went wrong, when actually it's all just part of the Journey.
