Do What I Do (0:43)
Doesn’t matter if your working musician, a successful businessperson, a struggling screenwriter or an active actor. Doesn’t even matter if you’ve been in the business a long time and think you’ve got it all figured out. Either way, hopefully this will help provoke some forward movement in your world:

In the shopping malls they used to sell hermit crabs. For a whopping 20 bucks you could take one of these crawly creatures home & make it your pet. Furthermore, they painted their shells with flourishes of bright day glo enamel to entice the buyer that they were indeed donned in thier best Armani attire. I often wondered if they got high from the gaseous fumes eminating from the enamel paint. Anyhow I AM an artist. Let me create what I do best. In the meantime find me a manager or concert promoter who sees huge day glo $$$ signs in thier eyes everytime they see my work. Allow them to dream of that brand new Lamborghini parked in thier Carmel beachfront mansion. When you find them please send them my way. Thank you!

A great thing that your blog does Michael, is that it makes your readers feel valued. Readers feel like we are a part of the process, part of the Tribe. Also, you compliment the readers along the way. So the reader senses that we are all working together here. Very smart Tribe-building. Thanks!

Thank you Micheal for suggesting a weekly newsletter/blog. I just set one up and it feels so right.

I agree. I like others have not been consistent in working my mailing list. Ironic that I actually ctreate content pretty consistently and perform every week yet I don't keep my email list informed. I think I need to be better about scheduling these tasks as opposed to thinking that I will "remember to do it" as that clearly has not occurred. As a side note- most any web-based entrepreneur that I know, know of of or have read about say that your email list is your #1 resource. Learning how to work is paramount to being successful. Knowing and doing are two separate things, though.

I just started sending out a blog. It won't be every week, but it will be consistent. I think the trick will be to NOT continually sell my work, but rather to just share what's going on with me and by business. If people like it that's great. If not, that's ok too.

Facebook no longer works for me. I have built my FB following to 2300 followers, but my business has not grown. As you so clearly pointed out, I made the mistake of putting all my trust in FB, and have made my own website secondary. I need to reverse that trend.

Iíve been sending out a periodic newsletter for the past year. I get 3-5 new subscribers a month. The truth is, I havenít been consistent. I think if I get in the habit of sending something every week the numbers will go up. The tough part is getting in the habit.
