Haven’t we read enough books on communication yet? Didn’t we learn anything from all those seminars we took and TED Talks we watched? What will it take for us to realize that miscommunications and misunderstandings disrupt our creative process and slow our projects to a crawl? And why do we allow such pettiness to derail our goals and delay our dreams?

Important because the result of this conversational apathy is that ordinary discussions are misunderstood, urgent documents are poorly written and hastily proofed, important meetings are carelessly organized, deals don’t go down, and the money never makes it to the bank! Meanwhile, attorneys get rich, sorting out the sea of miscommunications and misunderstandings that abound in this industry. Ultimately, it all leads to stress, frustration, anxiety, and needless to say a total waste of time and money. Not to mention the fact that the creative part of our career gets helplessly entangled in the drama and hoopla of the business part! That said, in our everyday interactions with the people we work with, the people we serve, the help we hire and the experts we trust we need to insist on clear, precise communication in every corner of our career, and demand it in every area of our life!
